Cell Phone

A friend of mine used to call a smart phone a cell phone, thereby emphasizing the ‘cell’. Cause it creates a cell for ourselves..

Just read a great article which speaks about the increase in usage of smartphones in the last few decades and what the consequences are.
A timely reminder to remain aware of smartphone usage and to use my attention wisely

18: Flower of Compassion

Flower of Compassion

Oh flower of the heart
Shine your light over us
Open up and show your beauty
The guiding force

You know what it is like
To be vulnerable
Naked and alone
You know there is no need
To be afraid of our tears

You grow so easily
As you are inherent within us
On the good soil of pure intent
Our wish for all to be happy
Stems from your seeds

Oh flower of compassion
Love is your guiding light
Teach us to be human
Help us to accept
The basic uncertainty of life

This poem was inspired by the documentary Crazy Wisdom (2011) about the late Tibetan Buddhist Master Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche. Rinpoche taught people how to become warriors of Shambhala, how to become genuine human beings. A beautiful and encouraging message worth contemplating.

Smartphun

Yesterday i was at the childrens farm. I decided not to take my Canon Eos with me, since i wanted to relax a bit and focus on the voluntary work instead of only taking pictures. But as i made my round through the place, i noticed a few nice spots and so i got out the smartphone to have a bit of smartphun. When i came home i knew i wanted to give all these images a little extra, just for the fun of it. Seeing Bob Ross the other week sure did help in the exploration lol. My personal favorite is the sketchy image of willows with oak leaves in the front. I should actually practice painting, since these kind of landscapes are amazing to paint (i imagine lol). Below this image are a few more pictures i took and edited. All together i spend about 20 minutes photographing and for the rest of the time i enjoyed petting and feeding the animals and the childrens farm. Always nice to be there, it always cheers me up 🙂

Toren WP2

Two more pictures from last week in The Hague. This time another tower photographed from up front. One in color and one in black and white. Had the smartphone with me, so i might have to go back using a standard and the EOS to get some more nice pictures of these skycrapers.
