A little late since it’s already been posted for the monochrome madness, but here’s my entry for this week. The metro line running through the streets of The Hague

The Tall Tower

One of the ministries in The Hague city by night. Didn’t have a tripod with me, so i was a bit limited concerning compositions. So i choose to go for a more playful approach. Hope you like it and i wish you all a nice saturday

The Hague

First two images of The Hague city, in the west of the Netherlands. The first image shows a lot of ministries and the royal library. The right shows the business center with a love of tall buildings and a special construction made for the trams which pass through the streets. Very interesting to be in a city more now and to be able to explore the cityscape. There will be more images to follow, but as always i start with my personal favorites 😀

The Kop van Zuid is an area in Rotterdam situated along the Maas river and is developing into a very modern part of the city with large skyscrapers. Took a few images a while back when i was in Rotterdam and made a new edit today. Shot taken from the Erasmus bridge

Euromast: Rotterdam’s Tallest

Euromast klein

The famous eyecatcher of Rotterdam, the Euromast, has an elevator which brings you up +200 meters in the air while spiraling along the central column. When i first moved upward i was a bit shocked to notice we would turn around the central column. But then i realized that as we were all buckled in our seatbelts, we needed to go round to see the entire cityscape. This is from another time, when we were strolling the city. Took this photo while passing through and found it today. Never edited it before, but i think in this cut out it its actually quite a nice architectural picture..

Wish you a nice weekend in advance!

This beautiful church called the Walburgischurch is the perfect setting for having the World Press Photo 2016. Today i visit the exhibition and there were quite some astounding pictures. Also lots of shocking pictures, and some very fine quality natural beauty. Highlight for me was the Kids Rights exhibition where ‘the Youngsters’ were presented to the audience. One of them is Malala. The Kids Rights have their own version of the Nobel Peace Price called the International Children’s Peace Prize and its heartwarming to read about kids in difficult situation finding inspiration and starting to do something which causes a change.

As i was looking at the photos i also noticed the beauty of the place. In the gallery you can find a few images of the inside and outside of the location. The inside is the middle part of the church, the ship it’s called i believe. The outside was something i came up with while editing the HDR and i think it turned out quite alright 🙂

Wish you a lovely week

Reflections of the city

Rotterdam reflectieraam klein

Rotterdam contains an increasing amount of great architecture and tall buildings. Old and new blend in seemingly without effort. Last year when i visited friends i took quite a lot of pictures and i still enjoy strolling through these photos. This is one of them, which i ‘rediscovered’. It’s a photo of a reflecting window with less reflecting panels alongside of it. This is the result i got from it 🙂

Edinburgh Street Life

Edinburgh street

As i was strolling through the photo collection of our 2013 trip to Scotland i found out that my dad has much more an eye for the street(s) than i do. This is one such example. Beautiful colored houses, and a lovely street in general. Great to see his pictures too, since he took a lot of nice photographs very much worth sharing. To be continued?!

The old city

Old centre of Zadar WP

The old city centre of Zadar is very beautiful. A former Roman forum now hosts the St Donatus Church. The forum is very big and wide and open, so it gives a good view at the church. During the day the area was crowded, but luckily as dusk approached i could get a nice clean shot of it during the blue hour.
